LIMERICK COUNTY COUNCIL (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1974.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33 (7) of the Local Government Act, 1941 (No. 23 of 1941), hereby orders as follows:—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Limerick County Council (Amendment) Order, 1974.

(2) This Order and the Limerick County Council Order, 1942 may be cited collectively as the Limerick County Council Orders, 1942 and 1974.

2. Article 3 of and the Schedule to the Limerick County Council Order, 1942, are hereby revoked.

3. (1) The County of Limerick shall be divided into the county electoral areas named in the first column of the Schedule to this Order.

(2) Every such county electoral area shall consist of the places set forth in the second column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

(3) The number of members of the Council of the County of Limerick to be elected for each such county electoral area shall be the number set forth in the third column of the Schedule to this Order opposite the name of such county electoral area.

4. Every reference in the Schedule to this Order to a district electoral division shall be construed as a reference to such district electoral division as existing at the date of this Order and every reference to a former rural district shall be construed as a reference to that district as constituted immediately before the 1st day of October, 1925.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to divide Limerick County into five county electoral areas for the purpose of the election of members of Limerick County Council and to fix the number of members to be elected for each county electoral area.
