ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF MAYO) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1973.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.— (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Mayo) (Amendment) Regulations, 1973.

(2) The Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Mayo) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 36 of 1969 ) and these Regulations shall be construed as one and may be cited together as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Mayo) Regulations, 1969 and 1973.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 26th day of November, 1973.

3. In these Regulations, the "Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Mayo) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 36 of 1969 ).

4. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition of the following references:—

" 17. The following roads at Belcarra:—

( a ) The Castlebar-Ballinafad road between a point 180 yards north of its junction with the Manulla Road and a point 500 yards south of that junction.

( b ) The Manulla Road for a distance of 300 yards from its junction with the Castlebar-Ballinafad road.

18. The following roads at Cong: —

( a ) The Circular Road.

( b ) The Clonbur-Cross road between the point where it is intersected by the county boundary and a point 235 yards west of its junction with the Neale Road.

( c ) The road connecting Main Street with the Circular Road.

( d ) Church Road for a distance of 70 yards from its junction with the Circular Road.

19. The following road at Keel and Dooagh: —

The Achill Sound-Keem Bay road between a point 200 yards south-west of its junction with the Doogort Road and a point 600 yards west of the intersection of the common boundary of the townlands of Slievemore and Keel West with that road.

20. The following roads at Kilkelly: —

( a ) The Kiltimagh-Charlestown road between a point 180 yards south-west of the centre line of Trimogue Bridge and a point 150 yards north of its junction with the Swinford Road.

( b ) The Swinford Road for a distance of 370 yards from its junction with the Kiltimagh-Charlestown road.

( c ) The Kilmovee Road for a distance of 450 yards from its junction with the Kiltimagh-Charlestown road.

21. The following roads at Louisburgh: —

( a ) The Westport-Leenane road between a point 330 yards north-east of its junction with Chapel Street and a point 90 yards south of the centre line of Bunowen Bridge.

( b ) Chapel Street and its continuation as the Tooreen Road for a distance of 370 yards from its junction with the Westport-Leenane road.

( c ) The Bunowen Road for a listance of 150 yards from its junction with the Westport-Leenane road.

( d ) The Legan Road for a distance of 90 yards from its junction with the Westport-Leenane road.

22. The following roads at Mallaranny:—

( a ) The Achill Sound-Newport road between a point 100 yards west of its junction with the Cushlecka Road and a point 1,170 yards east of that junction.

( b ) The Cushlecka Road for a distance of 250 yards from its junction with the Achill Sound-Newport road.".

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended as follows:—

(i) by the substitution for the matter at reference 1 of

"1. The following roads at Achill Sound:—

( a ) The Keel-Newport road between a point 155 yards west of its junction with New Road and a point 565 yards north-east of the centre line of Achill Sound Swing Bridge.

( b ) Points Road.

( c ) St. Fionnan's Road for a distance of 600 yards from its junction with Points Road.",

(ii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 2 (c) of

"(c) The Quay Road for a distance of (i) 135 yards from the boundary of the urban district of Ballina and (ii) between a point 10 yards south of its junction with Creggs road and a point 1,015 yards south of that junction.",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 7 (c) of "315" for "115",

(iv) by the substitution at reference 8 (b) of "1,065" for "1,025",

(v) by the substitution at reference 8 (f) of "1,012" for "470",

(vi) by the substitution at reference 13 (b) of "100 yards north" for "51 yards south",

(vii) by the addition of the following matter at reference 13—

"( c ) The Kiltimagh Road for a distance of 150 yards from its junction with the Claremorris-Kilkelly road.

( d ) The Ballyhaunis Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Claremorris-Kilkelly road.",

(viii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 14 (e) of "The Quay Road",

(ix) by the deletion of the matter at reference 14 (h),

(x) by the substitution for the matter at reference 16 (g) of—

"(g) Back Street and its continuation as the Charlestown Road to a point 25 yards west of its junction with the Cuillaun Road".

6. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition of the following references:—

"8. The following roads at Ballindine:—

( a ) The Claremorris-Tuam road between a point 140 yards north-west of its junction with the Ballyhaunis Road and a point 95 yards south-east of its junction with the Dunmore Road.

( b ) The Dunmore Road for a distance of 110 yards from its junction with the Claremorris-Tuam road.

( c ) The Ballyhaunis Road for a distance of 220 yards from its junction with the Claremorris-Tuam road.

( d ) The Hollymount Road for a distance of 460 yards from its junction with the Claremorris-Tuam road.

9. The following roads at Ballina:—

( a ) The Foxford Road between a point 168 yards north of the boundary of the urban district of Ballina and a point 350 yards south of that boundary.

( b ) The Quay Road between a point 135 yards north of the boundary of the urban district of Ballina and a point 1,015 yards south of the junction of that road with the Creggs Road.

10. The following roads at Bangor Erris:—

( a ) The Belmullet-Ballina road between a point 100 yards south-east of its junction with the Geesala Road and a point 1,100 yards east of that junction.

( b ) Church Road for a distance of 60 yards from its easternmost junction with the Belmullet-Ballina road.

( c ) The Ballycroy Road for a distance of 350 yards from its junction with the Belmullet-Ballina road.

11. The following roads at Bellavarry:—

( a ) The Castlebar-Swinford road between a point 520 yards west of its junction with the Foxford Road and a point 100 yards east of that junction.

( b ) The Foxford Road for a distance of 200 yards from its junction with the Castlebar-Swinford road.

( c ) The Balla Road for a distance of 40 yards from its junction with the Castlebar-Swinford road.

( d ) The Loughtavarry Road for a distance of 35 yards from its junction with the Castlebar-Swinford road.

12. The following road at Swinford:—

The Foxford Road between a point 140 yards from its junction with the Aclare Road and a point 390 yards from that junction."

7. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby further amended as follows:—

(i) by the addition of the following matter at reference 2:—

"(b) The Claremorris (Lower) Road between a point 20 yards east of its junction with the McHale Road and a point 400 yards east of the boundary of the urban district of Castlebar.",

(ii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 3,

(iii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 4 of

"4. The following roads at Claremorris:

( a ) The Castlebar Road between a point 1,000 yards from the junction of Mount Street with D'Alton Street and a point 1,370 yards from that junction.

( b ) The Streamstown Road for a distance of 300 yards from its junction with the Castlebar Road.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Mayo) Regulations, 1969 ( S.I. No. 36 of 1969 ) and alter the speed limits applicable to certain roads in the county of Mayo.
