MERCHANDISE MARKS (RESTRICTION ON IMPORTATION OF CERAMIC WARE) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1973.

I, JUSTIN KEATING, Minister for Industry and Commerce, having duly complied with subsections (2) and (3) of section 12 (as amended by section 7 of the Merchandise Marks Act, 1970 (No. 10 of 1970)) of the Merchandise Marks Act, 1931 (No. 48 of 1931), hereby, in exercise of the power conferred on me by subsection (1) of that section, order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Merchandise Marks (Restriction on Importation of Ceramic Ware) (Amendment) Order, 1973.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 27th day of July, 1973.

3. The Merchandise Marks (Restriction on Importation of Ceramic Ware) Order, 1969 ( S.I. No. 137 of 1969 ) (as amended by the Merchandise Marks (Restriction on Importation of Ceramic Ware) (Amendment) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 93 of 1972 )), is hereby further amended by the insertion in paragraph 4 (a) after "consisting of" of "the name, in English, or of", and, accordingly, that paragraph shall have effect as set out in the Table to this Article.

TABLE

(a) in the case of tableware, they bear at importation an indication of origin marked on the goods and consisting of the name, in English, or of the words "Made in" followed by the name, in English, of the country in which the goods were manufactured.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order removes the obligation imposed by the Merchandise Marks (Restriction on Importation of Ceramic Ware) Order, 1969 to include the words "made in" in the indication of origin to be marked on ceramic tableware.
