DRIVING LICENCES (REPAYMENT OF EXCISE DUTIES) REGULATIONS, 1973.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sub-section (1A) of section 4 of the Finance (Excise Duties) (Vehicles) Act, 1952 (No. 24 of 1952) as inserted by section 18 of the Finance Act, 1961 (No. 23 of 1961) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Driving Licences (Repayment of Excise Duties) (Amendment) Regulations, 1973.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on 1st day of June, 1973.

3. The Driving Licences (Repayment of Excise Duties) Regulations, 1964, ( S.I. No. 88 of 1964 ) are hereby amended by the substitution for article 4 of the following article—

"4. A repayment under these Regulations shall be made at the rate of £2 for each complete year of the licence period which remains unexpired at the date of surrender of the driving licence."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for a revised rate of refund of part of the duty paid on taking out a driving licence where that driving licence is being surrendered under sub-article (7) of article 15 of the Road Traffic (Licensing of Drivers) Regulations, 1964.
