EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (AN BORD BAINNE) REGULATIONS, 1973.

I, JAMES GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the European Communities Act, 1972 (No. 27 of 1972), hereby make the following Regulations:

1 Short title and commencement

1. These Regulations may be cited as the European Communities (An Bord Bainne) Regulations, 1973, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1973.

2 Repeal

2. Sections 36 (3), 37 (4), 38 (3), 44 and 45 of the Dairy Produce Marketing Act, 1961 (No. 1 of 1961), are hereby repealed.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations repeal, as from 1 February 1973, the statutory provisions under which An Bord Bainne (a) has been empowered to impose levies (milk levy, butter levy and butter stocks levy) to be paid by creameries and butter traders, (b) has been obliged to purchase creamery butter at a fixed price, and (c) has been required to sell at a fixed price any creamery butter disposed of by it on the home market.
