IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (DUMPING AND SUBSIDIES) (PROVISIONAL DUTY ON PAPER SERVIETTES AND TABLE NAPKINS) ORDER, 1972.

WHEREAS, during an investigation by An Coimisiún Dumpála under section 7 of the Imposition of Duties (Dumping and Subsidies) Act, 1968 (No. 11 of 1968), in relation to goods of the kind specified in Articles 3 and 4 of the Order following, that Commission recommended to the Minister for Industry and Commerce that a provisional duty at the rate of 38.4 per cent. be imposed for a period of six months on goods of the kind aforesaid:

NOW I, PATRICK J. LALOR, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 13 of the said Imposition of Duties (Dumping and Subsidies) Act, 1968 , hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (Dumping and Subsidies) (Provisional Duty on Paper Serviettes and Table Napkins) Order, 1972.

2. In this Order "the United Kingdom" means Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, and the Channel Islands.

3. A provisional duty at the rate of 38.4 per cent. shall be charged, levied and paid between the 25th day of December, 1972, and the 31st day of December, 1972, on rectangular articles of paper material suitable for use as serviettes or table napkins which consist of not more than four plies, are not less than nine hundred or more than three housand two hundred square centimetres in area, are classified in chapter 48 of the Schedule to the Imposition of Duties (No. 159) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 132 of 1966 ), and are produced in whole or in part in the United Kingdom.

4. A provisional duty at the rate of 38.4 per cent. shall be charged, levied and paid between the 1st day of January, 1973, and the 24th day of June, 1973, on rectangular articles of paper material suitable for use as serviettes or table napkins which consist of not more than four plies, are not less than nine hundred or more than three thousand two hundred square centimetres in area, are classified in chapter 48 of the Schedule to the Imposition of Duties (No. 200) (Customs and Exise Duties and Form of Tariff) Order, 1972 ( S.I. No. 220 of 1972 ), and are produced in whole or in part in the United Kingdom.

5. The duty imposed by this Order is hereby placed under the care and management of the Revenue Commissioners.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides for the imposition of a provisional duty of 38·4% ad valorem on imports of paper serviettes and table napkins from the United Kingdom.
