IMPORTATION OF ANIMAL SEMEN (PROHIBITION) ORDER, 1972.

I, JAMES GIBBONS, Minister for Agriculture and Misheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 30 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), for the prevention of the spreading of disease, hereby order as follows:—

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Importation of Animal Semen (Prohibititon) Order, 1972.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 22nd day of December, 1972.

2. This Order shall apply to the semen of the following animals and poultry:—

(a) dogs, cats, and all ruminating animals, except cattle, sheep and goats;

(b) domestic fowls, turkeys, geese, ducks, guinea-fowls, partridges, pheasants and pigeons.

3. The importation of any semen to which this Order applies is hereby prohibited save under and in accordance with a licence granted in that behalf by the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order prohibits, except under licence, the importation of semen of the animals and poultry specified therein.
