PIGS AND BACON ACTS, 1935 TO 1961 (PIGS AND BACON COMMISSION) MINIMUM PRICES (No. 3) ORDER, 1972.

WHEREAS sub-section (1) of Section 3 of the Pigs and Bacon (Amendment) Act 1956 (No. 37 of 1956) provides that the Commission may by Order:

(a) fix, in respect of carcases of factory-purchased pigs of any grade of any graded class sold while the Order is in force, the minimum price (in terms of a rate per hundredweight) thereof;

(b) fix, in respect of carcases of factory-purchased pigs of any non-graded class sold while the Order is in force, the minimum price (in terms of a rate per hundredweight) thereof :

AND WHEREAS Section 21 of the Pigs and Bacon (Amendment) Act 1961 provides that an Order under the said Section shall not be made without the consent of the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries.

AND WHEREAS this Order is being made with the consent of the Minister as required by Section 21 of the said Act.

NOW THEREFORE the Pigs and Bacon Commission in exercise of the powers vested in it under the said Section hereby orders as follows;

(1) This Order may be cited as the Pigs and Bacon Acts, 1935 to 1961 (Pigs and Bacon Commission) Minimum Prices (No. 3) Order 1972.

(2) This Order shall come into force on the 29th day of November 1972.

(3) The minimum price of every carcase of a factory-purchased pig of the class and grade specified in the Schedule hereto sold during the currency of this Order shall be calculated at the rate per hundredweight specified in the Schedule hereto appropriate to the grade of such carcase.

(4) The Class and Grade of every carcase to which this Order applies shall be ascertained in the manner prescribed in the Pigs and Bacon Acts, 1935 to 1961 (Pigs and Bacon Commission) Grading (No. 1) Order 1971.

(5) The Pigs and Bacon Acts, 1935 to 1961 (Pigs and Bacon Commission) Minimum Prices (No. 2) Order 1972 shall be and is hereby revoked as from the time when this Order comes into force.

Provisions for calculating the minimum prices of factory-purchased bacon pigs other than pigs in respect of which the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries is not satisfied that the pigs were produced in the State:

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order fixes the minimum prices in respect of carcases of factory-purchased pigs—where the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries is satisfied that they were produced in the State—graded 'A Special'—'A'—'AL' (127 lb. to 150 lb.); and 'AL' (over 150 Lb. to 160 lb.) purchased by licensed bacon curers on and after Wednesday, 29th day of November 1972 at £18-50; £17-40; £16-50; and £16-00 per cwt. respectively.
