SOCIAL WELFARE (DISABILITY, UNEMPLOYMENT AND MARRIAGE BENEFIT) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1972.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by Sections 3 and 28 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) and with the sanction of the Minister for Finance, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1972.

(2) These Regulations and the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1953 to 1971, may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1953 to 1972.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 2nd October 1972.

3. The following Schedule shall be substituted for the First Schedule to the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 7 of 1953 ) as amended by article 3 of the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) (Amendment) Regulations, 1971 ( S.I. No. 249 of 1971 ):—

Full weekly rate of benefit applicable under Part I of the Third Schedule to the Act as amended by the Social Welfare Act, 1972 (No. 15 of 1972).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Consequent on the increase in the maximum rates of disability and unemployment benefit effected by the Social Welfare Act, 1972 , these Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Disability, Unemployment and Marriage Benefit) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 7 of 1953 ) for the purpose of increasing the reduced rates of benefit payable where the contribution condition in respect of the governing contribution year is only partially satisfied.
