S.I. No. 233 of 1972.

EXPLOSIVES (NITRO-BENZENE) ORDER, 1972.

WHEREAS the substance specified in this Order appears to the Government to be specially dangerous to life and property by reason of its explosive properties:

NOW, the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 104 of the Explosives Act, 1875, hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Explosives (Nitro-benzene) Order, 1972.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 23rd day of September, 1972.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

4. It is hereby declared that nitro-benzene shall be deemed to be an explosive within the meaning of the Explosives Act, 1875.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order declares nitro-benzene to be an explosive within the meaning of the Explosives Act, 1875, thus rendering this substance subject to the controls operated under that Act.
