ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF OFFALY) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1972.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act, as amended by section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Offaly) (Amendment) Regulations, 1972.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of February, 1972.

3. In these Regulations the "Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Offaly) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 132 of 1968 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows:—

(i) by the deletion at reference 3 (a) of "Dillon Street",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 3 (e) of "320" for "220",

(iii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 3 (i),

(iv) by the substitution for the matter at reference 3 (j) of

"(j) The Charleville Road between the urban district boundary and a point 10 yards south-west of its junction with Dillon Street."

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows:—

(i) by the substitution at reference 2 (f) of "1450" for "1200",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 3 (c) of "200" for "150",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 4 (c) of "400" for "200",

(iv) by the substitution for the matter at reference 5 (c) of

"(c) The Clara Road from its junction with the Cloghan-Athlone road to a point 10 yards west of its junction with the Coole Road.",

(v) by the substitution at reference 9 (c) of "115" for "30",

(vi) by the addition of the following matter at reference 9— "(f) St. Mary's Terrace.",

(vii) by the addition of the following references—

"10. The following roads at Moneygall:—

(a) St. Joseph's Terrace.

(b) The Dublin-Limerick road between a point 50 yards north-east of its junction with St. Joseph's Terrace and a point 50 yards west of its junction with the Cloughjordan Road.

(c) The Castletown Road between its junction with the Dublin-Limerick road and a point 50 yards east of its junction with St. Joseph's Terrace.

(d) The Army Hill Road for a distance of 25 yards from its junction with the Dublin-Limerick road.

(e) The Cloughjordan Road for a distance of 200 yards from its junction with the Dublin-Limerick road.

11. The following road adjacent to the Urban District of Tullamore:—

Adams Villas".

6. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows:—

(i) by the deletion of the matter at reference 4,

(ii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 6 (d) of

"(d) The Charleville Road between a point 10 yards south-west of its junction with Dillon Street and a point 10 yards south-west of its junction with Coleman's Terrace.",

(iii) by the addition of the following matter at reference 6:

"(e) The Killeigh or Mountmellick Road between a point 860 yards north of the boundary of the urban district of Tullamore and a point 10 yards north of its junction with Coghlan's Lane.",

(iv) by the addition of the following references:—

"7. The following road at Daingean:—

The Rhode Road between a point 60 yards north of its junction with the Tullamore-Edenderry Road and a point 390 yards north of that junction.

8. The following road at Edenderry :—

The Dublin Road between a point 255 yards south-west of the town boundary and a point 1,000 yards south-west of that boundary.

9. The following road at Ferbane:—

The Athlone Road between a point 730 yards north of its junction with the Clara Road and a point 1,410 yards north of that junction."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Offaly) Regulations, 1968 and alter speed limits applicable to certain roads in County Offaly.
