IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 193) (PNEUMATIC TYRES) ORDER, 1971.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957) and section 22 of the Finance Act, 1962 (No. 15 of 1962), hereby order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 193) (Pneumatic Tyres) Order, 1971.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 25th day of November, 1971.

3. The Imposition of Duties (No. 159) (Customs Duties and Form of Customs Tariff) Order, 1966 ( S.I. No. 132 of 1966 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for the matter contained in the Schedule at tariff heading number 40.11 (A) (1) of the following:

"(1) Tyres and tyre cases:

(a) the maximum width of which from sidewall to sidewall measured externally is not less than 7 inches and the diameter of which measured from bead to bead is not less than 16 inches.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This instrument provides for an increase of the minimum specific duty of customs from £3 to £15 each on imports from countries other than the United Kingdom of certain pneumatic tyres for mechanically propelled vehicles.
