ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF DONEGAL) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1971.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Donegal) (Amendment) Regulations, 1971.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 15th day of September, 1971.

3. In these Regulations the "Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Donegal) Regulations, 1968 ( S.I. No. 73 of 1968 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the substitution at reference 1 (g) of "360" for "1080",

(ii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 1 (h),

(iii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 3 (c),

(iv) by the deletion at reference 4 (a) of "The Lismonaghan Road",

(v) by the deletion of the matter at reference 4 (g) and 4 (h).

(vi) by the substitution for the matter at reference 4 (j) of "The Port Quay-Rathmelton Road.",

(vii) by the addition of the following matter at reference 4—

"(n) The Lismonaghan Road south-eastwards from a point 30 yards south-east of its junction with the Oldtown Road."

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the addition of the following references—

"45. The following roads at Culdaff:—

(a) The Moville-Malin road between a point 200 yards south-west of its junction with the Glengad Road and a point 530 yards south-east of that junction.

(b) The Glengad Road for a distance of 70 yards from its junction with the Malin-Moville road.

(c) The Shore Road for a distance of 200 yards from its westernmost junction with the Culdaff-Gleneely road.

(d) The Western Shore Road between its junction with the Malin-Moville road and its junction with the Shore Road.

46. The following roads at Pettigo:—

(a) Railway Road.

(b) The Laghey-Lough Derg road from a point 650 yards west of its junction with Railway Road to a point 35 yards north of its junction with the Lettercran Road.",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 2 (b) of "190" for "170",

(iii) by the addition of the following matter at reference 5:

"(c) The Donegal Road between the point where the town boundary intersects the south eastern side of the road and a point 10 yards south-west of the junction with Coolcholly Lane.",

(iv) by the substitution for the matter at reference 19 (b) of:

"The Ballyshannon-Ballybofey road between a point 335 yards south of its junction with Quay Road and a point 40 yards north-east of its junction with Old Laghey Road.".

(v) by the addition at reference 19 of the following matter

"(e) The Old Laghey Road for a distance of 80 yards from its junction with the Ballybofey Road.",

(vi) by the substitution at reference 26 (c) of "530" for "300",

(vii) by the substitution at reference 28 (e) of "670" for "170",

(viii) by the substitution at reference 30 (b) of "620" for "390",

(ix) by the addition at reference 32 of the following matter

(c) The Oldtown-New Mills Road between the urban district boundary and a point 30 yards west of its junction with the Rahan Road.

(d) The Rahan Road between its junction with the Oldtown-New Mills road and a point 150 yards south-west of that junction.

(e) The Lismonaghan Road where it is a perimeter road between its junction with the Oldtown Road and a point 30 yards south-east of that junction.",

(x) by the substitution at reference 33 (f) of "1360" for "970",

(xi) by the substitution at reference 43 (d) of "290" for "120",

(xii) by the addition at reference 43 of the following

"(f) the Dundee Road for a distance of 130 yards from its junction with the Churchtown Road.",

(xiii) by the substitution at reference 44 (b) of "60 yards east" and "1010" for "90 yards west" and "330" respectively,

(xiv) by the addition at reference 44 of the following matter

"(h) The Golf Links Road for a distance of 120 yards from its junction with the Lifford Road.

(i) Drumboe Avenue for a distance of 330 yards from its junction with Stranorlar Main Street."

6. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the substitution for the matter at reference 1 (a) of

"(a) The Buncrana-Derry road between a point 70 yards north of its junction with the Birdstown or Whinhill Road and a point 20 yards north-west of its junction with the Grove Road.",

(ii) by the addition at reference 1 of the following

"(d) The Birdstown or Whinhill Road for a distance of 120 yards from its junction with the Buncrana-Derry road.",

(iii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 6 of the following

"6. The following roads in the Urban District of Letterkenny:—

(a) The Port Road between a point 100 yards south-east of the urban district boundary and a point 1020 yards north-west of the said boundry.

(b) The Rathmelton Road between a point 50 yards east of its junction with the Gortlee Road and its junction with the Port Quay-Rathmelton Road.

(c) The Port Quay-Rathmelton Road.",

(iv) by the deletion of the matter at reference 9 (b) and 9 (e),

(v) by the substitution at reference 9 (c) of "60 yards east" for "90 yards west",

(vi) by the addition of the following references—

"10. The following roads at Bundoran:—

(a) The Sligo Road between the urban district boundary and a point 645 yards east of that boundary.

(b) Bogtown Lane for a distance of 50 yards from its junction with the Sligo Road.

11. The following road at Donegal:—

The Ballybofey Road between a point 40 yards north-east of its junction with the Old Laghey Road and a point 510 yards north-east of that junction."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Donegal) Regulations, 1968 and alter speed limits applicable to certain roads in County Donegal.
