ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF KERRY) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1971.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kerry) (Amendment) Regulations, 1971.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of September, 1971.

3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kerry) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 208 of 1967 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the deletion at reference 1 (a) of "The Spa Road",

(ii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 1 (e) of "The Cork Road between the urban district boundary and a point 100 yards south-east of its junction with the Spa Road",

(iii) by the substitution for the matter at reference 2 (b) of "The Greenville Road for a distance of 670 yards from the urban district boundary",

(iv) by the substitution at reference 2 (d) of "800" for "1,300",

(v) by the substitution at reference 2 (e) of "600 for "400",

(vi) by the deletion of the matter at reference 2 (f),

(vii) by the deletion of "The Killierisk Road" at reference 3 (a).

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the addition of the following references—

"20. The following road at Ballyheigue:

The Kerryhead Road between a point 200 yards south-west of its junction with the Tralee-Listowel road and a point 1,490 yards west of that junction.

21. The following roads at Barraduff:

(a) The Killarney-Rathmore road between a point 525 yards west of its junction with the Lisbaba Road and a point 100 yards east of the said junction.

(b) The Lisbaba-Glenflesk road between a point 100 yards north of its junction with the Killarney-Rathmore road and a point 100 yards south of the said junction.

22. The following roads at Causeway:

(a) The Ballyheigue-Ballyduff road between a point 400 yards south-west of its junction with the Sea Road and a point 325 yards north-east of that junction.

(b) The Ardfert Road for a distance of 200 yards from its junction with the Ballyheigue-Ballyduff road.

(c) The Sea Road for a distance of 450 yards from its junction with the Ballyheigue-Ballyduff road.

23. The following road adjacent to the urban district of Killarney:

The Spa Road where it is a perimeter road and its continuation to a point 380 yards north-east of its junction with the Cork Road.

24. The following road adjacent to the urban district of Listowel:

The Tarbert Road between the urban district boundary and a point 290 yards east of that boundary.

25. The following roads at Lixnaw:

(a) The Abbeydorney-Listowel road between a point 150 yards south of its junction with the Lixnaw Road and a point 100 yards north-east of that junction.

(b) The Lixnaw Road between its junction with the Abbeydorney-Listowel road and a point 1,250 yards north-west of that junction.

26. The following roads at Moyvane:

(a) The Listowel Road for a distance of 310 yards from its junction with the Tarbert-Knockanure road.

(b) The Glin Road for a distance of 310 yards from its junction with the Tarbert-Knockanure road.

(c) The Tarbert-Knockanure road from a point 275 yards north of its junction with the Listowel Road to a point 880 yards south of that junction.",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 7 (b) of "1,035" for "835",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 8 of "470" for "300" where that figure occurs firstly,

(iv) by the substitution at reference 10 of "450" for "640",

(v) by the substitution at reference 10 (a) of "the Coastguard Station Road" for "Station Row",

(vi) by the substitution at reference 15 (b) of "350 yards east" for "75 yards west",

(vii) by the addition at reference 15 of the following:

"(e) The Killarney-Mallow road between a point 20 yards east of its junction with the Rathbeg Road and a point 40 yards west of its junction with the Gneeveguilla Road.

(f) The Cloonts Road for a distance of 10 yards from its junction with the Killarney-Mallow road.

(g) The Millstreet Road for a distance of 100 yards from its junction with the Killarney-Mallow road.

(h) The Hollymount Road for a distance of 10 yards from its junction with the Killarney-Mallow road",

(viii) by the addition at reference 17 (a) of "The Tarbert Island Road",

(ix) by the substitution at reference 17 (b) of "490" for "90",

(x) by the deletion of the matter at reference 17 (d),

(xi) by the addition at reference 19 of the following—

"(f) The Cable Station Road from a point 100 yards east of its junction with the Cahirciveen Road."

6. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the deletion of the matter at reference 1,

(ii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 5 (b) and 5 (c),

(iii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 6,

(iv) by the addition of the following matter at reference 7—

"(c) The Killarney Road between a point 300 yards south-east of Ballinorig Cross and a point 340 yards south-east of Killierisk Road."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Kerry) Regulations, 1967, and alter speed limits applicable to certain roads in County Kerry.
