ROAD TRAFFIC (SIGNS) (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1971.

The Minister for Local Government, in exercise of the powers vested in him by section 5 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 95 of the said Act as amended by section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Signs) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations, 1971.

(2) The Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations, 1962 to 1971, and these Regulations shall be construed together as one.

(3) The citation " The Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations, 1962 to 1971" shall include these Regulations.

2. The First Schedule to the Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations, 1962 ( S.I. No. 171 of 1962 .) is hereby amended by the addition to Part VI of the following paragraph:—

" 9. signs 204, 205 and 206 may be accompanied by a rectangular plate or a plate of the general shape of sign I which shall be placed below the sign and shall furnish in black letters on a white field information in regard to the prohibition, including the days and hours when the prohibition applies."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Signs) Regulations, 1962 to 1971, to provide for the use of information plates to accompany signs 204, 205 and 206.
