ROAD TRAFFIC (SPEED LIMITS) (COUNTY OF ROSCOMMON) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1971.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 45 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) and section 46 of the said Act as amended by section 25 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Roscommon) (Amendment) Regulations, 1971.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 13th day of April, 1971.

3. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Roscommon) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 306 of 1967 ).

4. The First Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the deletion at reference 1 (a) of "The Abbeytown Road, The Sligo-Carrick-on-Shannon road",

(ii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 1 (i),

(iii) by the addition of the following matter at reference 1.

"(j) The Carrick-on-Shannon Road for a distance of 110 yards from the point where the town boundary intersects the northern side of the road.

(k) The Sligo Road between the town boundary and a point 80 yards south of its junction with the Abbeytown Road.",

(iv) by the deletion of the matter at reference 2 (a).

5. The Second Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the substitution at reference 1 (c) of "240" for "90",

(ii) by the substitution at reference 2 (e) of "450" for "100",

(iii) by the substitution at reference 3 (a) of "40" for "30" and "260" for "255" respectively,

(iv) by the substitution at reference 4 (a) of "635" for "450",

(v) by the addition at reference 9 (a) of "The Lisnamult Road",

(vi) by the substitution at reference 10 (b) of "65 yards southwest" for "40 yards east",

(vii) by the addition at reference 10 of the following—

"(d) The Clashganny Road for a distance of 65 yards from its junction with the Longford-Ballina road.",

(viii) by the addition of the following reference—

"11. The following road adjacent to the town of Boyle—

The Abbeytown Road for a distance of 360 yards from the point where the town boundary intersects the southern side of the road."

6. The Third Schedule to the Principal Regulations is hereby amended as follows—

(i) by the substitution for the matter at reference 3 (c) of "The Sligo Road between a point 490 yards south of the point where the town boundary intersects the eastern side of the said road and a point 80 yards south of its junction with the Abbeytown Road.",

(ii) by the addition of the following matter at reference 3,

"(f) The Carrick-on-Shannon Road between a point 110 yards west of the point where the town boundary intersects the northern side of the said road and a point 120 yards east of that intersecting point.",

(iii) by the deletion of the matter at reference 3 (e),

(iv) by the addition of the following references

"8. The following road at Ballaghaderreen:—

The Charlestown Road between a point 400 yards north-west of its junction with Main Street and a point 25 yards south-east of its junction with Pullboy Road.

9. The following roads a Frenchpark:—

(a) The Castlerea-Boyle road between a point 195 yards south-west of its junction with the Ballaghaderreen-Tulsk road and a point 200 yards north-east of its junction with Chapel Street.

(b) The Ballaghaderreen-Tulsk road between a point 275 yards north-west of its junction with the Castlerea-Boyle road and a point 470 yards south-east of that junction.

(c) Chapel Street.

10. The following roads at Tarmonbarry:—

(a) The Longford-Strokestown road between the boundary of the counties of Roscommon and Longford at Tarmonbarry bridge and a point 200 yards west of its junction with the Rooskey Road.

(b) The Rooskey Road for a distance of 10 yards from its junction with the Longford-Strokestown road.",

(v) by the insertion of the words "in and" after "roads" in the heading at reference 7,

(vi) by the addition of the following matter at reference 7,

"(c) The Athlone Road between a point 50 yards south-east of its junction with Circular Road and a point 900 yards south-east of the intersection of the town boundary with the Athlone Road."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Road Traffic (Speed Limits) (County of Roscommon) Regulations, 1967 and alter the speed limits applicable to certain roads in County Roscommon.
