MERCHANT SHIPPING (FEES) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1971.

I, BRIAN LENIHAN, Minister for Transport and Power, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 10 of the Decimal Currency Act, 1970 (No. 21 of 1970), and with the consent of the Minister for Finance, hereby order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Order, 1971.

(2) The Merchant Shipping (Fees) Orders, 1968 and 1969, and this Order may be cited together as the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Orders, 1968 to 1971.

(3) This Order shall come into operation on decimal day.

2. The First Schedule to the Merchant Shipping (Fees) Order, 1968 ( S.I. No. 185 of 1968 ), as amended by the Merchant Shipping (Fees) (Amendment) Order, 1969 ( S.I. No. 212 of 1969 ), is hereby amended by the substitution for each of the references to "1s. 3d.", "2s. 9d.", "3s. 3d.", and "3s. 9d." of a reference to "6p.", "14p.", "16p." and "19p.", respectively.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides for the conversion into decimal currency of certain statutory fees for which there are no exact decimal currency equivalents.
