SOCIAL WELFARE (SUBSIDIARY EMPLOYMENTS) REGULATIONS, 1970.

The Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 3 of and paragraph 5 of Part II of the First Schedule to the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) Regulations, 1970.

(2) These Regulations shall be construed as one with the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) Regulations, 1953 to 1969 and may be collectively cited therewith as the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) Regulations, 1953 to 1970.

2. The employment set forth in the Schedule hereto is hereby specified as being of such a nature that it is ordinarily adopted as subsidiary employment only and not as the principal means of livelihood and the Schedule to the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 18 of 1953 ) as amended by the Social Welfare (Subsidiary Employments) (No. 2) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 321 of 1953 ) shall be amended by the addition thereto of the paragraph in the Schedule hereto.

3. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 9th day of February, 1970.

SCHEDULE.

45. Employment as a member of the Defence Forces involving service in either An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil or An Slua Muirí for any period not in excess of 21 consecutive days.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations provide for the exception from insurance under the Social Welfare Acts of employment for short periods as members of An Fórsa Cosanta Áitiúil or An Slua Muirí.
