WATERFORD COUNTY BOROUGH (WARDS) REGULATIONS, 1970.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 88 of the Electoral Act, 1963 (No. 19 of 1963) hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Waterford County Borough (Wards) Regulations, 1970.

2. In these Regulations the County Borough means the County Borough of Waterford.

3. The County Borough shall be divided into the wards set out in the first column of the Schedule to these Regulations.

4. (1) Each such ward shall consist of the area described in the second column of the said Schedule opposite the name of such ward.

(2) In the said Schedule—

(a) a reference to a line drawn along any road, river, street, or bridge shall be construed as a reference to a line drawn along the centre of such road, river, street or bridge;

(b) a reference to the point at which any road, river, street, or bridge is said to intersect or to join any road, river, street, or bridge shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the centre of the one would be intersected or joined by a line drawn along the centre of the other.

(c) a reference to the point at which any road or river intersects or joins a boundary shall be construed as a reference to the point at which a line drawn along the middle of such road or river would intersect or join such boundary.

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the point north-west of Waterford Bridge at which the County Borough boundary intersects the River Suir; thence commencing in an easterly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to the point at which it is intersected by the River Suir below Waterford Bridge; thence in a north-westerly direction along the River Suir to the starting point.

West Ward B

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the intersection of Waterford Bridge by the River Suir; thence in a south-easterly direction along the River Suir to its intersection by the imaginary north-easterly projection of Thomas Street; thence in a south-westerly direction along the said imaginary projection and along Thomas Street to its junction with The Glen; thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along The Glen to its junction with Ballybricken Green; thence in a southerly direction along the western side of Ballybricken Green to its junction with Morgan Street; thence in a north-westerly direction along Morgan Street to its junction with Summerhill; thence in a north-easterly direction along Summerhill, Bridge Street and along Waterford Bridge to the starting point.

West Ward C

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the intersection of the County Borough boundary and Gracedieu Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along Gracedieu Road to its junction with Military Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Military Road to its junction with Upper Yellow Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Upper Yellow Road and the Portlaw Road to its intersection by the County Borough boundary; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to the starting point.

West Ward D

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the point north-west of Waterford Bridge at which the River Suir intersects the County Borough boundary; thence in a south-easterly direction along the River Suir to the point at which it is intersected by Waterford Bridge; thence in a south-westerly direction along Waterford Bridge, Bridge Street and Summerhill to its junction with Gracedieu Road; thence in a north-westerly direction along Gracedieu Road to the point at which it is intersected by the County Borough boundary; thence commencing in a northerly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to the starting point.

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the point at which the River Suir is intersected by the imaginary north-easterly projection of Thomas Street; thence in a south-westerly direction along the said imaginary projection and Thomas Street to its junction with The Glen; thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along The Glen and the northern side of Ballybricken Green to its junction with Patrick Street; thence in an easterly direction along Patrick Street to its junction with Broad Street; thence in a northerly direction along Broad Street; Barronstrand Street, and the imaginary northerly projection of Barronstrand Street to the point at which the said imaginary projection is intersected by the River Suir; thence in a north-westerly direction along the River Suir to the starting point.

Centre Ward B

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Patrick Street and Mayor's Walk; thence in a southerly direction along Mayor's Walk to its junction with Newgate Street; thence commencing in an easterly direction and proceeding along Newgate Street and New Street to the junction of New Street and Michael Street; thence in a northerly direction along Michael Street to its junction with Patrick Street; thence in a westerly direction along Patrick Street to the starting point.

Custom House Ward B

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the intersection of the imaginary northerly projection of Barronstrand Street and the River Suir; thence in a southerly direction along the said imaginary projection, Barronstrand Street, Broad Street and Michael Street to its junction with Lady Lane; thence in an easterly direction along Lady Lane to its junction with Colbeck Street; thence in a southerly direction along Colbeck Street to its junction with The Mall; thence in a north-easterly direction along The Mall and it s imaginary north-easterly projection to the point at which it is intersected by the River Suir; thence in a north-westerly direction along the River Suir to the starting point.

Custom House Ward A

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Lady Lane and Michael Street; thence in a southerly direction along Michael Street and John's Street to its junction with John's River; thence commencing in a north-easterly direction and proceeding along John's River to its junction with Catherine Street; thence in a northerly direction along Catherine Street and Colbeck Street to its junction with Lady Lane; thence in a westerly direction along Lady Lane to the starting point.

Commencing at the junction of Morgan Street and Military Road; thence in a south-westerly direction along Military Road to its junction with Lower Yellow Road; thence in an easterly direction along Lower Yellow Road and the south side of Ballybricken Green to its junction with Mayor's Walk; thence in a northerly direction along the eastern side of Ballybricken Green to its junction with the northern side of Ballybricken Green; thence in a westerly direction along the northern side of Ballybricken Green to its junction with The Glen; thence in a southerly direction along the western side of Ballybricken Green to its junction with Morgan Street; thence in a north-westerly direction along Morgan Street to the starting point.

South Ward B

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of the south side of Ballybricken Green and Green Street; thence in a southerly direction along Green Street to its junction with Barrack Street; thence in a north-easterly direction along Barrack Street to its junction with Mayor's Walk; thence in a northerly direction along Mayor's Walk to its junction with the south side of Ballybricken Green; thence in a westerly direction along the southern boundary of Ballybricken Green to the starting point.

South Ward C

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Lower Yellow Road and Doyle's Street; thence commencing in a southerly direction along Doyle's Street to its junction with Barrack Street; thence in a north-easterly direction along Barrack Street to its junction with Green Street; thence in a northerly direction along Green Street to its junction with the southern side of Ballybricken Green; thence in a westerly direction along the south side of Ballybricken Green and Lower Yellow Road to the starting point.

South Ward D

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Lower Yellow Road and Morrisson's Road; thence in an easterly direction along Lower Yellow Road to its junction with Doyle's Street; thence in a southerly direction along Doyle's Street to its junction with Barrack Street; thence in a south-westerly direction along Barrack Street to its junction with Morrisson's Road; thence in a northerly direction along Morrisson's Road to the starting point.

Commencing at the junction of New Street and John's Street; thence in a southerly direction along John's Street to its intersection by John's River; thence commencing in a south-westerly direction and proceeding along John's River to its junction with Bath Street; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along Bath Street, College Street and Manor Hill to the junction of Manor Hill with Barrack Street; thence commencing in a northeasterly direction and proceeding along Barrack Street, Newgate Street and New Street to the starting point.

South Ward F

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of College Street and Hennessy's Road; thence commencing in a southeasterly direction and proceeding along College Street and Bath Street to the junction of Bath Street with John's River; thence commencing in a westerly direction and proceeding along John's River to the point at which it is intersected by the Tramore Road; thence in a straight undefined line in a south-easterly direction to the junction of the County Borough boundary with the eastern boundary of the disused Waterford-Tramore railway line; thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to its intersection by the Lacken Road at Bleach Bridge; thence in a northerly direction along the Lacken Road to its junction with Ashe Road; thence in a northerly direction along Ashe Road to its junction with Hennessy's Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along Hennessy's Road to the starting point.

South Ward G

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Keane's Road and Slievekeale Road; thence commencing in a southeasterly direction and proceeding along Lower Keane's Road to its junction with Cannon Street; thence in a north-easterly direction along Cannon Street to its junction with Ashe Road; thence in a southerly direction along Ashe Road to its junction with Lacken Road; thence in a southerly direction along Lacken Road to the point at which it is intersected by the County Borough boundary; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to the point near the eastern side of St. Otteran's Cemetery at which the County Borough boundary is intersected by the Cork Road; thence in an easterly direction along the Cork Road to its junction with Browne's Road; thence in a north-easterly direction along Browne's Road to its junction with Ticor Road; thence in an easterly direction along Ticor Road to the starting point.

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Upper Yellow Road and Keane's Road; thence in a southerly direction along Keane's Road to its junction with Griffith Place; thence in an easterly direction along Griffith Place to its junction with Ard na Greine; thence in a northerly direction along Ard na Greine to its junction with Upper Yellow Road; thence in a westerly direction along Upper Yellow Road to the starting point.

South Ward J

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Upper Yellow Road and Ard na Greine; thence in a southerly direction along Ard na Greine to its junction with Griffith Place; thence in an easterly direction along Griffith Place to its junction with Morrisson's Road; thence in a northerly direction along Morrisson's Road to its junction with Upper Yellow Road; thence in a westerly direction along Upper Yellow Road to the starting point.

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Griffith Place and Keane's Road; thence commencing in a southerly direction and proceeding along Keane's Road and Lower Keane's Road to the junction of Lower Keane's Road with Cannon Street; thence in a north-easterly direction along Cannon Street to its junction with Morrisson's Road; thence in a north-westerly direction along Morrisson's Road to its junction with Griffith Place; thence in a westerly direction along Griffith Place to the starting point.

Tower Ward A

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the point at which the imaginary north-easterly projection of the Mall is intersected by the River Suir; thence in a south-easterly direction along the River Suir to the point at which it is intersected by the County Borough boundary; thence commencing in a south-easterly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to its intersection by the Dunmore Road; thence commencing in a north-westerly direction and proceeding along the Dunmore Road, Newtown Road and Lower Newtown Road to its junction with John's Hill; thence in a north-westerly direction along John's Hill and Johnstown to the junction of Johnstown with John's River; thence commencing in an easterly direction and proceeding along John's River to its junction with Catherine Street; thence in a northerly direction along Catherine Street to its junction with The Mall; thence in a north-easterly direction along The Mall and along its imaginary north-easterly projection to the starting point.

Tower Ward B

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of John's Hill and Lower Newtown Road; thence commencing in a southeasterly direction and proceeding along Lower Newtown Road, Newtown Road and the Dunmore Road to the junction of the Dunmore Road with the County Borough boundary; thence in a south-westerly direction along the County Borough boundary to the point at which it is intersected by Upper Grange Road; thence in a north-westerly direction along Upper Grange Road and John's Hill to the starting point.

Tower Ward C

That part of the County Borough situated within a line drawn as follows:—

Commencing at the junction of Ballytruckle Road with Lower Grange Road; thence in a southerly direction along Lower Grange Road to its junction with Richardson's Folly; thence in an easterly direction along Richardson's Folly to its junction with Upper Grange Road; thence in a south-easterly direction along Upper Grange Road to its junction with the County Borough boundary; thence commencing in a westerly direction and proceeding along the County Borough boundary to its junction with Ballytruckle Road; thence in a northerly direction along the Ballytruckle Road to the starting point.
