ROAD TRAFFIC (PARKING FEES) REGULATIONS, 1969.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 90 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961), hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Road Traffic (Parking Fees) Regulations, 1969.

2. Fees received in any period of a year ending on 31st March by a local authority under section 90 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 (No. 24 of 1961) shall be disposed of by being lodged—

(i) in case the local authority is the corporation of a county or other borough, or the council of an urban district, to the credit of the municipal fund of the county borough, borough or urban district, or

(ii) in case the local authority is the council of a county, to the credit of the county fund of the county

and shall be applied—

(a) towards the payment of the costs incurred in that period of a year of administering and maintaining car parks, meter parking places and disc parking places,

(b) after the payment referred to in paragraph (a), by being transferred as capital money to the capital account of the local authority and by being then applied with the approval of the Minister for Local Government for the provision or extension of parking facilities, road improvements, traffic controls or other similar traffic improvements or for the purposes specified in section 101 of the Road Traffic Act, 1961 , as amended by section 6 of the Road Traffic Act, 1968 (No. 25 of 1968).
