BRETTON WOODS AGREEMENTS (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1969 (COMMENCEMENT OF SECTIONS 4 (1), 5 AND 6) ORDER, 1969.

I, CHARLES J. HAUGHEY, Minister for Finance, in exercise of the power conferred on me by section 8 of the Bretton Woods Agreements (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 10 of 1969), hereby, with the agreement of the Central Bank of Ireland as testified by its seal affixed hereto, order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Bretton Woods Agreements (Amendment) Act, 1969 (Commencement of Sections 4 (1), 5 and 6) Order, 1969.

2. The 1st day of July, 1969, is hereby fixed as the day on which sections 4 (1), 5 and 6 of the Bretton Woods Agreements (Amendment) Act, 1969 (No. 10 of 1969), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Order fixes 1 July, 1969, as the day on which sections 4 (1), 5 and 6 of the Bretton Woods Agreements (Amendment) Act, 1969 , shall come into operation. These sections transfer to the Central Bank of Ireland the functions of making payments to and receiving moneys from the International Monetary Fund, at present performed by the Minister for Finance and vest in the Bank the asset represented by gold and currency payments from the Exchequer to the Fund, against cancellation of a corresponding amount of the Exchequer's indebtedness to the Bank.
