HOUSING AUTHORITIES (LOAN CHARGES CONTRIBUTIONS AND MANAGEMENT) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1969.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 5 and 44 of the Housing Act, 1966 (No. 21 of 1966) and with the consent of the Minister for Finance hereby makes the following Regulations:—

1. In these Regulations, " the Principal Regulations " means the Housing Authorities (Loan Charges Contributions and Management) Regulations, 1967 ( S.I. No. 71 of 1967 ).

2. These Regulations may be cited as the Housing Authorities (Loan Charges Contributions and Management) (Amendment) Regulations, 1969.

3. Article 2 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the addition thereto of the following definition :—

" ' housing scheme ' means a scheme for the provision of dwellings in relation to which—

(a) a scheme of rents is approved under paragraph (e) of sub-article (1) of article 4 of these Regulations on or after the 1st day of April, 1969, and

(b) the expenses are defrayed out of money raised by borrowing with the sanction of the Minister given on or after the 31st day of December, 1968, or

(c) construction commenced on or after the 31st day of December, 1968."

4. Sub-article (1) of article 5 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of " £3,100 " for " £2,600 ", " £2,650 " for " £2,200 ", " £1,850 " for " £1,650 " and " £1,200 " for " £1,100 " and by the insertion after the words " provision of dwellings " of the words " in a housing scheme ".

5. Sub-article (3) of article 5 of the Principal Regulations is hereby amended by the substitution of the following definition for the definition of a serviced dwelling :—

" 'serviced dwelling ' means a dwelling in which a piped water supply and sewerage facilities are installed by a housing authority in accordance with proposals approved of by the Minister."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These regulations amend the Housing Authorities (Loan Charges Contributions and Management) Regulations, 1967 by providing for increases in the cost limits on which contributions to loan charges may be made by the Minister for Local Government under section 44 of the Housing Act, 1966 and by providing a revised definition of a serviced dwelling in respect of which such contribution may be made.
