POSTAL ORDER (INLAND) AMENDMENT (No. 9) REGULATIONS, 1968.

I, JOHN LYNCH, Minister for Finance, on the representation of the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, made in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the Posts and Telegraphs (Delegation of Ministerial Functions) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 158 of 1967 ), as testified by his signature hereon, and in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 23, 24 and 82 of the Post Office Act, 1908, and section 5 of the Post Office (Amendment) Act, 1951 (No. 17 of 1951), hereby make the following regulations : —

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 9) Regulations, 1968.

2. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 1st day of January, 1969.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

4. In these Regulations "the Principal Regulations" means the Postal Order (Inland) Regulations, 1905.

5. The following Regulation is hereby substituted for Regulation 4 (inserted by the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 7) Regulations, 1960 ( S.I. No. 50 of 1960 )) of the Principal Regulations :

" 4. Postal Orders shall be issued for the following sums:=—1s., 2s., 2s. 6d. and multiples of one shilling between 3s. and 20s., both inclusive, and 25s., 30s., 40s., and multiples of one pound between £3 and £10, both inclusive."

6. The following Regulation is hereby substituted for Regulation 5 (inserted by the Postal Order (Inland) Amendment (No. 8) Regulations, 1964 ( S.I. No. 126 of 1964 )) of the Principal Regulations :

" 5. The poundage payable on postal orders shall be as follows :

For an order for 1s., 2s., 2s. 6d., 3s. or for any multiple of 1s. between 4s. and 9s., both inclusive

4d.

For an order for any multiple of 1s. between 10s. and 20s., both inclusive and for 25s. and 30s.

6d.

For an order for any multiple of £1 between £2 and £10, both inclusive ... ... ... ...

8d."

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Instrument, which comes into operation on the 1st January, 1969, provides for the introduction of postal orders of the values £6, £7, £8, £9 and £10 and for amending the poundage on postal orders as follows : —
