SOCIAL WELFARE (MODIFICATIONS OF INSURANCE) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1968.

I, JOSEPH BRENNAN, Minister for Social Welfare, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by sections 3 and 12 of the Social Welfare Act, 1952 (No. 11 of 1952) and by section 6 of the Social Welfare (Occupational Injuries) Act, 1966 (No. 16 of 1966), hereby make the following Regulations :—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1968.

(2) The Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations, 1956 to 1967, and these Regulations may be cited together as the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations, 1956 to 1968.

2. Article 4B of the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations, 1956 ( S.I. No. 236 of 1956 ), as inserted by article 6 of the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) (Amendment) Regulations, 1967 (S.I. No. 81 of 1967), is hereby amended—

( a ) by the deletion of the word " and " at the end of paragraph (b) of sub-article (1),

( b ) by the addition, after paragraph (c) of the said sub-article, of the following paragraph—

"(d) persons in any of the employments specified in paragraphs 3, 5, and 6 of Part 1 of the First Schedule to the Act.", and

( c ) by the insertion in sub-article (2) after the words " paragraph (c) " of the words " or paragraph (d) ".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations amend the Social Welfare (Modifications of Insurance) Regulations, 1956 to 1967, by extending to certain persons insurable employed but not under contract of service regulations already applicable in respect of accidents and diseases happening outside the State in the case of persons insurably employed under contract of service.
