FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE ORDER, 1956 (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) ORDER, 1967.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby, for the prevention of the spreading of foot and mouth disease, order as follows:

1. This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease Order, 1956 (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1967.

2. The Foot-and-Mouth Disease Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 324 of 1956 ), shall be amended as follows:

(a) Article 6 (1) is hereby amended by the substitution for "on inspection of an animal or carcase is of opinion that the animal or carcase is affected with foot-and-mouth disease, he shall sign a certificate to that effect (in the Form A set out in the Second Schedule to this Order) and "of the following:

"either—

(a) on inspection of an animal or carcase is of opinion that the animal or carcase is affected with foot-and-mouth disease, he shall sign a certificate to that effect (in the Form A set out in the Schedule to this Order), or

(b) has reason to believe that an outbreak or a suspected outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease has occurred at a place in Northern Ireland which is less than five miles distant from any place in the State, he shall sign a certificate to that effect (in the Form AA set out in the Second Schedule to this Order)

and"; and

(b) the following is hereby inserted after Form A in the Second Schedule thereto:

"FORM AA.

ARTICLE 6.

Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 .

Foot-and-Mouth Disease Order, 1956.

Certificate.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order provides that where an outbreak or a suspected outbreak of foot and mouth disease occurs in Northern Ireland within five miles of the Land Frontier a veterinary inspector may sign a certificate enabling appropriate restrictions to be applied in those areas in the State which are within five miles of the place where the outbreak or suspected outbreak occurred.
