FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (RESTRICTION ON ENTRY OF PERSONS INTO THE STATE) ORDER, 1967.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby, for the prevention of the spreading of foot and mouth disease, order as follows:

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction on Entry of Persons into the State) Order, 1967.

(2) This Order shall come into force on the 17th day of December, 1967.

2. (2) In this Order "vessel" includes any ship or boat, or any other description of vessel used in navigation.

(2) This Order applies to

(a) any vessel which within the twenty-four hours,

(b) any aircraft which within the twelve hours, immediately prior to its coming to the State has been in a place in Great Britain.

(3) This Order applies to any passenger (other than a passenger who is not more than 14 years of age) travelling on a vessel or aircraft to which this Order applies.

3. The disembarkment at any place, other than the ports, places in a port, harbours and airports mentioned in column (1) of the Schedule hereto, of any passenger to which this Order applies is hereby prohibited.

4. The person in charge of a vessel to which this Order applies shall not permit, whether by act or omission, the number of passengers disembarking from such vessel at a port, place in a port, or harbour mentioned in column (1) of the Schedule hereto to exceed the number specified in column (2) of such Schedule opposite the mention in the said column (1) of the port, place in a port, or harbour.

5. The person in charge of an airport mentioned in column (1) of the Schedule hereto shall not on any day permit, whether by act or omission, to leave the airport a number of passengers, being passengers to which this Order applies, greater than the number of passengers specified in column (2) of such Schedule opposite the mention in the said column (1) of the airport.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order (1) prohibits the entry of persons by sea or air passage from Britain at ports or other places other than those designated in the Order and (2) prescribes limits on the numbers of such persons who may enter at designated ports or places.
