FOOT AND MOUTH DISEASE (RESTRICTION OF SPORTS AND SALES) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1967.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 (No. 6 of 1966), hereby, for the prevention of the spreading of foot and mouth disease, order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) (Amendment) Order, 1967.

2. The Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) Order, 1967 ( S.I. No. 253 of 1967 ), shall be amended as follows:

(a) in Article 3 ", and shall continue in force up to and including the 22nd day of December, 1967" is hereby revoked; and

(b) "or any public show or sale of animals, poultry or other birds (other than a sporting fixture or sale" is hereby substituted for "(other than a sporting fixture" in Article 5 (1).

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order:

(I) provides that the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) Order, 1967, shall continue in operation after 22nd December, 1967 and

(II) extends the provisions of the Foot and Mouth Disease (Restriction of Sports and Sales) Order, 1967, so as to provide that an inspector of the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries may, by notice served in writing on the promoters or organisers, prohibit the holding of any public show or sale of animals, poultry or other birds.
