IMPORTATION OF CARCASES AND ANIMAL PRODUCTS (PROHIBITION) (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1967.

I, NEIL T. BLANEY, Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 3 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1966 , (No. 6 of 1966), hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) (Amendment) Order, 1967.

2. The Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966, ( S.I. No. 201 of 1966 ), shall be construed and have effect as if: —

(a) paragraph 4 of the First Schedule thereto were omitted;

(b) ", imported otherwise than via Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man," were inserted after "skins" in paragraph 5 of the said Schedule;

(c) "both imported otherwise than from or via Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man and" were inserted after "are" in paragraph 6 of the said Schedule;

(d) "which is imported otherwise than from or via Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man" were inserted in the said Schedule as follows, (i) after "hair" in paragraph 7, and (ii) after "charcoal" in paragraph 9; and

(e) "which are imported otherwise than from or via Great Britain, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man" were inserted in the said Schedule as follows, (i) after "phosphates" in paragraph 10, and (ii) after "antisera" in paragraph 12.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This order extends the scope of the Importation of Carcases and Animal Products (Prohibition) Order, 1966, to prohibit, except under licence, the importation from or via Great Britain, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man of hides and skins, cow hair, horse hair, goat hair, pigs bristles, carded or combed animal hair, bone charcoal, bone phosphates and sera and antisera.
