PERIODICAL LOTTERIES REGULATIONS, 1966.

I, WILLIAM P. QUINN, Commissioner of the Garda Síochána, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 50 of the Gaming and Lotteries Act, 1956 (No. 2 of 1956), and with the consent of the Minister for Justice, hereby make the following regulations :

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Periodical Lotteries Regulations, 1966.

(2) The Periodical Lotteries Regulations 1961 ( S.I. No. 212 of 1961 ), and these Regulations may be cited as the Periodical Lotteries Regulations, 1961 and 1966.

2. These Regulations apply to a lottery in respect of which—

(a) the sale or allocation of chances, the determination of prizewinners and the presentation of the prizes take place on the same occasion, and

(b) the determination of prizewinners and the presentation of the prizes take place in the presence of those participating in the lottery.

3. The Periodical Lotteries Regulations, 1961 ( S.I. No. 212 of 1961 ), shall, as respects a lottery to which these Regulations apply, have effect as if subparagraphs (f) and (g) of paragraph (1) of Article 2, paragraph (1) of Article 3 and paragraph (a) of Article 5 were deleted.

4. Two or more lotteries to which these Regulations apply and which are conducted under the same licence on the same occasion shall be deemed for the purposes of the said Periodical Lotteries Regulations, 1961, to be one lottery.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Regulations adapt the Periodical Lotteries Regulations, 1961, to cover the "Bingo" type of lottery and they exempt the holders of licences for such lotteries from the requirements of the 1961 Regulations in relation to the keeping of records of prize-winners.
