UNEMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE (SPECIFIED AREAS) ORDER, 1965.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by subsection (3) of section 8 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1965 (No. 20 of 1965), hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Unemployment Assistance (Specified Areas) Order, 1965.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 3rd day of January, 1966.

3. The areas mentioned in the Schedule to this Order are hereby specified for the purposes of subsection (1) of section 8 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1965 (No. 20 of 1965), as the areas in relation to which that subsection applies.

SCHEDULE.

Specified Areas.

The areas consisting of—

(a) the counties of Cavan, Clare, Donegal, Galway, Kerry, Leitrim, Longford, Mayo, Monaghan, Roscommon and Sligo,

(b) the parts of the county of Cork comprising the former rural districts of Bantry, Castletown, Schull and Skibbereen, together with the district electoral divisions of Barnacurra, Bealanageary (Dunmanway), Bealanageary (Macroom), Boherboy, Candroma, Cleanrath, Clonfert East, Clonfert West, Derryfineen, Doonaslean, Gortnatubrid, Kilmeen, Kilnamartery, Knockatooan, Knocknagree, Meens, Slievereagh, Ullanes and Williamstown, and

(c) the parts of the county of Limerick comprising the district electoral divisions of Abbeyfeale, Caher, Cleanglass, Dromtrasna, Glenagower, Glengort, Glensharrold, Kilfergus, Kilmoylan, Mountcollins, Port, Rathronan, Rooskagh and Templeglentan.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

Section 8 of the Social Welfare (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1965 , provides that, for the purposes of unemployment assistance, means from the use of land which is personally used or enjoyed by a person who is resident in an area standing specified for the time being in an order under subsection (3) of the section shall, in general, be deemed to be an amount calculated at the rate of £20 per annum per £ of the rateable valuation of the land. This order specifies areas accordingly and has the effect of bringing the provisions into operation as from 3rd January, 1966, in relation to those areas.
