S.I. No. 227/1965 - Oifig an Ard-Chláraitheora (Hours of Business) Regulations, 1965.


The Minister for Health, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 4 of the Vital Statistics and Births, Deaths and Marriages Registration Act, 1952 (No. 8 of 1952), hereby makes the following Regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Oifig an Ard-Chláraitheora (Hours of Business) Regulations, 1965.

2. In these Regulations, "public holiday" means—

(a) Christmas Day when it falls on a weekday or, when it falls on a Sunday, the 27th day of December, and

(b) St. Stephen's Day when it falls on a weekday, or, when it falls on a Sunday, the next following Monday, and

(c) St. Patrick's Day when it falls on a weekday or, when it falls on a Sunday, the next following Monday, and

(d) Good Friday, Easter Monday, Whit Monday and the first Monday in August.

3. Every person shall be entitled to make the searches of the indexes of the registers referred to in section 70 of the Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1844, section 50 of the Registration of Births and Deaths (Ireland) Act, 1863, and section 17 of the Registration of Marriages (Ireland) Act, 1863, during the period from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on any of the following days, other than a day which is a public holiday:—Mondays to Fridays.

4. The Oifig an Ard-Chláraitheora (Hours of Business) Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 60 of 1953 ) are hereby revoked.

5. These Regulations shall come into operation on the 15th day of November, 1965.

These Regulations specify the days and times that Oifig an Ard Chláraitheora will be open to the public from the 15th November 1965, for the purpose of making searches of the indexes.
