MARITIME JURISDICTION (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1964

The Government, in exercise of the power conferred on them by subsection (2) of section 5 of the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 (No. 32 of 1964), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, (Commencement) Order, 1965.

2. This 1st day of October, 1965, is hereby appointed as the day on which the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 (No. 32 of 1964), shall come into operation.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order, is, from 1st October, to extend the exclusive, fishery limits of the State from three to twelve miles from the coast or straight baselines, where such are drawn. The Order is made under the Maritime Jurisdiction (Amendment) Act, 1964 .
