Compensation for certain interferences with land, etc.

14.—(1) Any person who suffers any loss or damage by reason of any interference (other than an interference to which a notice served pursuant to paragraph (a), (b) or (c) of subsection (1) of section 9 of this Act refers) by the Commissioners during the construction of any works under this Act with any land owned or occupied by him or any easement, fishery, water-right, navigation-right, or other right belonging to him shall, subject to the provisions of this Act, be entitled to be paid by the Commissioners compensation in respect of such loss or damage.

(2) Every claim for compensation under this section shall be made in writing to the Commissioners within one year after the interference to which the claim relates is begun.

(3) Compensation under this section shall, in default of agreement, be determined by arbitration pursuant to the Arbitration Act, 1954 .
