CUSTOMS (LAND FRONTIER) REGULATIONS, 1962.

The Minister for Finance, in exercise of the powers vested in him by Section Thirteen of the Adaptation of Enactments Act, 1922 , and of every other power enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations amending the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1923, hereinafter referred to as the Principal Regulations and the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1924, together with the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1929, the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1937, the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1938, the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1939, the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1943, the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1951, and the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1952.

1. As from Tuesday, the first day of January, nineteen hundred and sixty-three, the Schedule to these Regulations is hereby substituted for the Schedule to the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1952.

2. These Regulations shall be construed together with and as part of the Principal Regulations and the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1924, 1929, 1937, 1938, 1939, 1943, 1951 and 1952 and may be cited as the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1962.

PART II

Routes Approved—

(a) for the importation of goods not liable to any duty or to any prohibition or restriction on importation;

(b) for the exportation of goods, other than livestock, not liable to any duty or to any prohibition on exportation;

(c) for the importation or exportation of motor vehicles travelling on their own wheels and either empty or carrying only goods above specified, provided that—

(i) the person in charge of such a motor vehicle carries with him a Customs Pass showing that no duty is payable on such vehicle on importation, or

(ii) the vehicle, if not previously imported, is a private motor vehicle which is admissible under Temporary Importation Permit.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The Order substitutes a new Schedule of Approved Routes, Frontier Posts and Customs Stations for the Schedule embodied in the Customs (Land Frontier) Regulations, 1952 ( S.I. No. 258 of 1952 ). In effect, Greenore is substituted for Carlingford as the Customs Station on the approved route from Newry to Greenore, and certain routes not now available for traffic are removed from the Schedule of Approved Routes.
