RULES OF HIGH COURT AND SUPREME COURT MODE OF ADDRESS RULES, 1961

We, the Superior Courts Rules Committee constituted pursuant to the provisions of Section 67 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1936 , and reconstituted pursuant to the provisions of Section 15 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1953 , by virtue of the powers conferred upon us by Section 36 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1924 , and Section 68 of the Courts of Justice Act, 1936 , and of all other powers enabling us in this behalf, do hereby make the annexed Rules of Court.

1. The Judges of the Supreme Court, the High Court (including the Central Criminal Court), and the Court of Criminal Appeal respectively shall be addressed, in Irish or English, by their respective titles and names, and may be referred to, in Irish, as " an Chúirt ", or, in English, as " the Court ".

2. Order XXX, rule 1 of the Rules of the High Court and Supreme Court, 1926, is hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These rules prescribe revised modes of address of judges of the Supreme Court, the High Court (including the Central Criminal Court) and the Court of Criminal Appeal.
