Chairman of the Board.

13.—(1) The Board shall, from time to time as occasion requires, appoint a member of the Board to be its chairman.

(2) The Board shall determine the procedure for the selection of a member for appointment as chairman of the Board, and if the Board does not determine the procedure or if a member is not selected in accordance with the procedure, the chairman shall be selected by means of an election held among the members of the Board at a meeting of the Board and the provisions of paragraphs (a) to (h) of subsection (1) of section 43 of the Local Government Act, 1941 , shall apply in relation to the election as if the references in those paragraphs to members were references to members of the Board.

(3) The chairman of the Board may at any time resign his office by letter addressed to the chief officer of the Board and the resignation shall take effect as on and from the date of the receipt of the letter by the chief officer and, if he continues to be a member of the Board, shall be eligible for re-appointment as chairman of the Board.

(4) The chairman of the Board shall, unless he sooner resigns his office, hold office until the expiration of his term of office as a member of the Board.
