HORSES (REGULATION OF EXPORT) ORDER, 1960.

I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 2 of the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (No. 18 of 1947), hereby order as follows:—

1. This Order may be cited as the Horses (Regulation of Export) Order, 1960.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 1st day of December, 1960.

3. In this Order "horses" includes ponies, mules, jennets and asses.

4. The export of live horses is hereby prohibited save—

(a) where the export is under and in accordance with a licence in that behalf issued under the Agricultural and Fishery Products (Regulation of Export) Act, 1947 (No. 18 of 1947), or

(b) where the export is to any of the countries specified in the Schedule to this Order.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

This Order prohibits except under licence the export of horses to any country except Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Isle of Man, the United States of America and Canada.
