SMALL PUBLIC SERVICE VEHICLES (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1960.

The Minister for Local Government in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 15 of the Road Traffic Act, 1933 (No. 11 of 1933) hereby makes the following Regulations :—

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Small Public Service Vehicles (Amendment) Regulations, 1960.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937) shall apply to these Regulations.

3. Articles 23, 24 and 31 of the Small Public Service Vehicles Regulations, 1936 (S.R. and O. 1936 No. 269) are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of these regulations is to remove certain special restrictions on the construction of vehicles used as street service vehicles in a taximeter area, i.e. taxis. The restrictions are (a) a limit on length of 15' 6", (b) a limit on width of 6' 3"—a general limit of 7' 2" on the width of motor cars will continue to apply and (c) limits on the internal dimensions of a vehicle and the width of a doorway.
