IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (NO. 86) (LEATHERBOARD) ORDER, 1960.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Imposition of Duties Act, 1957 (No. 7 of 1957), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Imposition of Duties (No. 86) (Leatherboard) Order, 1960.

2. The duty of customs imposed by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 386) (Leatherboard) Order, 1956 ( S.I. No. 235 of 1956 ), shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 10th day of February, 1960, be varied by—

(i) the substitution for sub-paragraphs (a), (b) and (c) of paragraph 3 of that Order of the following sub-paragraphs, namely :

"(a) (i) material which, or the essential character of which is composition leather (being composition leather which has a basis of leather or leather fibre),

(ii) material which is a combination of the foregoing material with paperboard, cardboard, pasteboard, strawboard, millboard or similar material or with foam rubber, and which is in slabs, sheets, strips or rolls,

(b) shaped component parts of boots or shoes, made wholly or partly of material of any of the descriptions specified in sub-paragraph (a) of this paragraph." and

(ii) the insertion in paragraph 6 of that Order after "customs" of "(other than Special Import Levy or Special Import (No. 2) Levy)".

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of this Order is to extend the scope of the Customs duty of 50% (full) 331/3% (preferential—U.K. and Canada) ad valorem on leatherboard to include certain other materials.
