CONTROL OF IMPORTS (QUOTA No. 45) (COTTON PIECE GOODS) (AMENDMENT) (No. 2) ORDER, 1958.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by the Control of Imports Acts, 1934 and 1937, hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Control of Imports (Quota No. 45) (Cotton Piece Goods) (Amendment) (No. 2) Order, 1958.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the 15th day of July, 1958.

3. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

4. The Control of Imports (Quota No. 45) Order, 1949 ( S.I. No. 330 of 1949 ), is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution for paragraph (h) (inserted by the Control of Imports (Amendment of Quota No. 45 and Revocation of Quotas No. 43 and 44) Order, 1955 ( S.I. No. 205 of 1955 ) ) of paragraph 4 of the following subparagraphs :

" (h) articles which are not moquette or plush which exceeds eight ounces but does not exceed twenty-four ounces in weight per square yard and which are shown to the satisfaction of the Revenue Commissioners to be of any of the following descriptions, that is to say :

(i) cloth containing not less than thirty-three and one-third per cent. by weight of rubber other than cloth in the nature of tarpaulin,

(ii) leather cloth,

(iii) oilcloth,

(iv) Holland blind cloth,

(v) dyed book cloth other than book muslin or buckram,

(i) fabrics which have been impregnated or coated with artificial plastic material,", and

(b) the deletion of paragraph 3 of Part II of the Schedule.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The effect of the amendment is to bring certain rubber treated fabrics and finely woven patterned materials within the scope of the Quota Order.
