LIVE STOCK (BOARS) (UNSUITABLE TYPES) REGULATIONS, 1958.

I, PATRICK SMITH, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by subsection (1) of section 5 of the Live Stock Breeding Act, 1925 (No. 3 of 1925), as applied by the Live Stock Breeding Act, 1925 (Application to Boars) Orders, 1930 and 1958, and having complied with the requirements of that subsection, hereby make the following regulations :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Live Stock (Boars) (Unsuitable Types) Regulations, 1958.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. It is hereby declared that all boars other than boars of the following classes :

(a) Pedigree Irish Large White boars entered, or accepted for entry, in a herd book recognised by the Minister for Agriculture, and

(b) Pedigree Landrace boars entered, or accepted for entry, in a herd book recognised by the Minister for Agriculture,

are unsuitable for the area comprised in the whole of the State.

4. The Live Stock (Boars) (Unsuitable Types) Regulations, 1936 ( S. R. & O. No. 176 of 1936 ), are hereby revoked.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The Live Stock (Boars) (Unsuitable Types) Regulations, 1936 declared that boars of all types other than the Irish Large White type were unsuitable for the area comprised in the State.

The present Regulations revoke the 1936 Regulations and declare as unsuitable boars other than pedigree Irish Large White and pedigree Landrace entered or accepted for entry in recognised Herd Books.
