GREAT NORTHERN RAILWAY COMPANY (IRELAND) (WINDING-UP) ORDER, 1958.

WHEREAS the Minister for Industry and Commerce, after consultation with the Minister of Commerce for Northern Ireland, is satisfied that the Great Northern Railway Company (Ireland) has duly distributed the compensation money in respect of the acquisition of its undertaking under the Great Northern Railway Act, 1953 , and has complied with any directions given to it by the Great Northern Railway Board for the purpose of securing that the ownership of any property or assets or any right is effectively transferred to the Board and that the Board does not desire to give any further directions :

NOW, I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the power conferred on me by paragraph (b) of subsection (1) of section 49 of the Great Northern Railway Act, 1953 (No. 17 of 1953), hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Great Northern Railway Company (Ireland) (Winding-Up) Order, 1958.

2. The Minister hereby determines that there is no reason for the continued existence of the Great Northern Railway Company (Ireland) to the intent that, upon publication of this Order in Iris Oifigiúil, the Company shall be dissolved and section 6 of the Great Northern Railway (Ireland) Act, 1877, by which the Company was incorporated, shall cease to have effect.

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

The purpose of the Order is to provide for the dissolution of the Great Northern Railway Company (Ireland). There is now no reason for the continued existence of this Company which ceased to own and operate the Great Northern Railway undertaking on 1st September, 1953.
