ANTI-SWINE FEVER SERUM AND SWINE FEVER VACCINE (RESTRICTION ON IMPORTATION) ORDER, 1957.

I, SEÁN MOYLAN, Minister for Agriculture, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 22 of the Diseases of Animals Act, 1894, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Anti-Swine Fever Serum and Swine Fever Vaccine (Restriction on Importation) Order, 1957.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. In this Order—

" anti-swine fever serum " means serum, or a solution of the purified proteins of serum, separated from the blood of animals which have been immunised against swine fever ;

" the Minister " means the Minister for Agriculture ;

" swine fever vaccine " means vaccine containing either the living, dead or inactivated virus of swine fever.

4. No person shall import anti-swine fever serum or swine fever vaccine save under and in accordance with a permit in that behalf granted by the Minister under Article 5 of this Order.

5.—(1) The Minister may, in his absolute discretion, grant or refuse to grant to any person a permit for the importation of anti-swine fever serum or swine fever vaccine.

(2) The Minister may attach to a permit granted under this Article such conditions as he thinks proper and the holder of the permit shall comply with any conditions attached to it.

(3) The Minister may revoke a permit granted under this Article.

This Order prohibits the importation of anti-swine fever serum and swine fever vaccine except under permit.
