OIL POLLUTION OF THE SEA ACT, 1956 (APPLICATION OF SECTION 10) REGULATIONS, 1957.

I, SEÁN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the power conferred on me by subsection (2) of section 10 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956), hereby make the following regulations :—

1. (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (Application of Section 10) Regulations, 1957.

(2) These Regulations shall come into operation on the first day of November, 1957.

2. Section 10 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 (No. 25 of 1956), shall apply to marine diesel oil other than distillates of which more than half the volume distils at a temperature not exceeding three hundred and forty degrees centigrade when tested by the American Society for Testing Materials Standard Method D 153-54.

Explanatory Note.

These Regulations define heavy diesel oil, being one of the oils the discharge of which within a prohibited zone is an offence under Section 10 of the Oil Pollution of the Sea Act, 1956 .
