S.I. No. 188/1957 - Great Northern Railway Board (Dundalk-Clones, Glaslough-Cavan and Ballyhaise-Belturbet Railway Lines) (Termination of Passenger Services) Order, 1957.


WHEREAS the Great Northern Railway Board applied on the 29th day of August, 1957, to the Transport Tribunal for an Order pursuant to Section 24 of the Great Northern Railway Act, 1953 (No. 17 of 1953) in respect of the railway lines between Dundalk and Clones, Glaslough and Cavan and Ballyhaise and Belturbet and the services of trains thereon as specified in the Schedule hereto :

AND WHEREAS notice of the said proposal was duly published by the Board as provided by Subsection (2) of the said section :

AND WHEREAS the Minister for Industry and Commerce transmitted to the said Tribunal the objections duly received by him :

AND WHEREAS the said Tribunal held a Sitting for hearing the said objectors and the Board on the 20th day of September, 1957, due notice whereof was given to the said parties :

AND WHEREAS after hearing at the said Sitting such of the said objectors as attended before them and also the Board the said Tribunal decided to make the Order applied for without any modification and without any limitation on the period of its operation :

NOW, WE, THE TRANSPORT TRIBUNAL, in exercise of the powers conferred on us by Subsection (7) of Section 24 of the Great Northern Railway Act, 1953 (No. 17 of 1953), hereby order as follows :—

1. This Order may be cited as the Great Northern Railway Board (Dundalk-Clones, Glaslough-Cavan and Ballyhaise-Belturbet Railway Lines) (Termination of Passenger Services) Order, 1957.

2. This Order shall come into operation on the first day of October, 1957.

3. The Great Northern Railway Board is hereby authorised to terminate the services of trains specified in the Schedule hereto :

SCHEDULE.

The services of trains for passengers on the railway lines between—

Dundalk in the County of Louth and Clones in the County of Monaghan ;

Glaslough in the County of Monaghan and Cavan in the County of Cavan ; and

Ballyhaise and Belturbet in the County of Cavan.

Explanatory Note.

The purpose of the Order is to permit the Great Northern Railway Board to terminate passenger train services on the Dundalk-Clones, Glaslough-Cavan and Ballyhaise-Belturbet Railway Lines.
