OFFENCES AGAINST THE STATE (AMENDMENT) ACT, 1940, (DETENTION) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 1957.

I, CAOIMHGHÍN Ó BEOLÁIN, Minister for Defence, a Minister of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 7 of the Offences Against the State (Amendment) Act, 1940 (No. 2 of 1940), do hereby order and make the following regulations, that is to say :

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Offences Against the State (Amendment) Act, 1940 , (Detention) (Amendment) Regulations, 1957.

2. The Offences Against the State (Amendment) Act, 1940 , (Detention) Regulations, 1957 ( S.I. No. 146 of 1957 ), are hereby amended—

(a) by the substitution for paragraph 25 of the following paragraph :

" 25. (1) In addition to any visits under subparagraph (3) of paragraph 26 of these Regulations, an internee may, on application to the Commandant—

(a) receive one visit per month from relatives,

(b) at the discretion of the Adjutant-General, receive additional visits from relatives,

(c) at the discretion of the Minister for Defence, receive visits from persons other than relatives.

(2) Not more than three persons together shall be allowed to visit an internee." ;

(b) by the substitution in paragraph 2 of the Appendix for " the Curragh Training Camp Military Hospital, Co. Kildare " of " the General Military Hospital, Curragh Training Camp, Co. Kildare " ; and

(c) by the addition to the Appendix of the following paragraph :

" 4. The Internment Camp, Curragh Training Camp, Co. Kildare."

EXPLANATORY NOTE.

These Regulations effect minor changes in the main Regulations ( S.I. No. 146 of 1957 ) which provide for the command and administration of a camp for the internment of civilians.
