CONTROL OF EXPORTS ORDER (AMENDMENT) ORDER, 1957.

I, SEAN F. LEMASS, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by Section 2 of the Control of Exports (Temporary Provisions) Act, 1956 , (No. 1 of 1956), hereby order as follows :

1. (1) This Order may be cited as the Control of Exports Order (Amendment) Order, 1957.

(2) This Order shall come into operation on the 3rd day of July, 1957.

2. The Control of Exports Order, 1957 ( S.I. No. 64 of 1957 ), is hereby amended by—

(a) the substitution for subparagraph (1) of Paragraph 3 of the following :

" (1) The exportation of any articles specified in Part 1 of the Schedule to this Order, not being articles specified in Part III of that Schedule, is hereby prohibited save under and in accordance with a licence."

(b) the insertion in Part 1 of the Schedule thereto of the following :

" Iron and steel and manufactures thereof.

Machinery and parts.

Vehicles (including locomotives and tractors but excluding ships and aircraft) and parts thereof. "

(c) the deletion in Part II of the said Schedule of the following :

" Iron and steel and manufactures thereof.

Machinery and parts.

Vehicles (including locomotives, ships, tractors and aircraft and parts thereof). " and the insertion in the said Part II of the following :

" Ships and parts thereof.

Aircraft and parts thereof. "

(d) the deletion in Part III of the said Schedule after " Iron and steel manufactures as follows :" of " rounds, squares, flats and angles, structural steelwork, metal windows, fencing and fencing posts," and after " Machinery and parts as follows : " of " agricultural, dairying and horticultural machinery, concrete block making machines and ".

Explanatory Note.

The effect of this Order is to prohibit, subject to certain exceptions, the export of the following items to any destination except under licence issued by the Minister for Industry and Commerce :—

Iron and steel and manufactures thereof.

Machinery and parts and

Vehicles (including locomotives and tractors but excluding ships and aircraft) and parts thereof.
