ROAD TRANSPORT ACT, 1932, REGULATIONS, 1956.

I, WILLIAM NORTON, Minister for Industry and Commerce, in exercise of the powers conferred on me by section 23 of the Road Transport Act, 1932 (No. 2 of 1932), hereby make the following regulations :—

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Road Transport Act, 1932 , Regulations, 1956.

(2) These Regulations and the Road Transport Act, 1932 , Regulations, 1932 to 1952, may be cited together as the Road Transport Act, 1932 , Regulations, 1932 to 1956.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. Every passenger fare, as calculated under the Road Transport Act, 1932 , Regulations, 1951 ( S.I. No. 256 of 1951 ), may, so far as calculated under Scale A or C of the Schedule thereto, be increased by twelve and one half per cent., and, so far as calculated under Sale B of the Schedule thereto, be increased by eighteen and one-eighth per cent. and every charge mentioned in Scale D, E or F of the Schedule thereto may be increased by twelve and one-half per cent., any fraction of a penny in the result being reckoned as a penny.

4. The Road Transport Act, 1932 , Regulations, 1953 ( S.I. No. 64 of 1953 ), are hereby revoked and the present Regulations shall have effect as if the former Regulations had not been made.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The effect of these regulations is to permit of an increase not exceeding 5% in the fares chargeable on provincial omnibus services other than those provided by Coras Iompair Eireann and the Great Northern Railway Board.
