EMERGENCY IMPOSITION OF DUTIES (No. 373) (GALVANISED WROUGHT IRON AND GALVANISED STEEL ARTICLES) ORDER, 1956.

The Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 1 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties Act, 1932 (No. 16 of 1932), as adapted in consequence of the enactment of the Constitution, hereby order as follows :

1. This Order may be cited as the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 373) (Galvanised Wrought Iron and Galvanised Steel Articles) Order, 1956.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to this Order.

3. The Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 199) Order, 1939 ( S. R. & O. No. 214 of 1939 ), shall, as respects articles imported on or after the 30th day of March, 1956, have effect as if subparagraphs (b), (e), (f) and (h) of paragraph 3 were deleted.

4. Paragraph 3 of this Order shall not, as respects articles made wholly or mainly of galvanised wrought iron or galvanised steel which are of any of the descriptions which were specified in subparagraphs (b), (e), (f) and (h) of paragraph 3 of the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 199) Order, 1939, operate to revive the duty of customs imposed by section 8 of the Finance Act, 1934 (No. 31 of 1934), and mentioned at reference number 5 in the First Schedule to that Act, as amended at reference number 14 in the Eighth Schedule to the Finance Act, 1935 (No. 28 of 1935).

5. The duty of customs imposed by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 199) Order, 1939, shall not be charged or levied on watering pots or watering cans made wholly or mainly of galvanised wrought iron or galvanised steel.

6. The duty of customs imposed by the Emergency Imposition of Duties (No. 44) Order, 1934 ( S. R. & O. No. 218 of 1934 ), shall not be charged or levied on storage bins made wholly or mainly of galvanised wrought iron or galvanised steel.
