GARDA SIOCHANA (PROMOTION) (No. 2) REGULATIONS, 1955.

The Minister for Justice, with the approval of the Government, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 14 of the Police Forces Amalgamation Act, 1925 (No. 7 of 1925), and of every and any other power him in this behalf enabling, hereby makes the following Regulations :

1.—(1) These Regulations may be cited as the Garda Siochána (Promotion) (No. 2) Regulations, 1955.

(2) The collective citation, the Garda Siochána (Promotion) Regulations, 1925 to 1955, shall be deemed to include these Regulations.

2. The Interpretation Act, 1937 (No. 38 of 1937), applies to these Regulations.

3. A sergeant who formerly held the rank of inspector and who lost that rank on being removed from the Detective Branch otherwise than as a punishment under the Garda Siochána (Discipline) Regulations, 1926, shall be deemed to have passed the Class I Promotion examinations as required by Article 9 of the Garda Siochána (Promotion) Regulations, 1925, and shall be eligible for promotion to the rank of inspector.
